On Our Doorstep
The area immediately surrounding Nordrach Cottage is rich with caving history and opportunities. Many of these sites have been discovered, dug, and explored by MCG members over the years and remain popular spots for evening trips and training.

Ubley Hill Pot
Dug open by the MCG in a single weekend in 1960. The entrance is a concrete blockhouse with a locked lid.

Pinetree Pot
The entrance is in a small quarry, secured by a concrete blockhouse with a locked lid. The cave was dug by members of the MCG between 1959 and 1960.

Canyon Cave
Discovered and surveyed by the MCG in 1959. The cave has two entrances, both of which are gated and locked.

Battery Swallet
The entrance is in a shakehole and is a concrete blockhouse with a locked lid. The cave was dug by MCG members between 1989 and 1991.

East Twin Swallet
A small cave with a gated entrance. This was dug by members of the MCG in 1991.
Ubley Warren / Nettle Pot
A site of continued interest and digging efforts, located in the historic Ubley Warren mining area.
Cow Hole
A popular trip just a short walk from the cottage and a beautiful ‘Yorkshire like’ Pothole.
